Oops, already late! December was certainly a roller coaster month for us. Nathan finished his earthly course on Dec. 20. He certainly set his life in order and completed all he had hoped to. The families goal was to live in such a way they would be a witness to others and certainly others who hadn't given the Lord much thought were affected. Of course our prayers are with his wife and parents as they go on from here. Things we learned this month: CaringBridge.net is a great websight for those with medical problems to post so that interested and praying adults can check on progress without so many people calling for details. If you press your thumb against the roof of your mouth, you can stop a brain freeze. Freerice.com is an addictive site, theortically to earn free rice for the world's poor - but a way to learn vocabulary, Spanish, chemistry, etc. Thanks to Glen Rotan. Goody's, Country Kitchen and El Vaquero's are all closing in KV. Dunkin' Donuts and Maid Rite may be coming! Good thing. There is not a good donut to be found in this town - but who needs them? ARDs is a bad thing. My friend Do has had a struggle getting back - some same symptoms as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She left home Nov. 16 to go to the hospital and has not been home since. Weddings in December in the mountains of Colorado are beautiul. We live across the street from the football field at TSU. In May they dug up the field, laid pipes below for drainage and installed artificial turf. (So much rain in the summer made the completion date run late and two football games had to be played elsewhere.) One day before a storm was coming, a machine came and appeared to hurriedly roll up the south half of the E-W field- as if they were trying beat the storm - but several weeks later, the rolls are still dodwn the middle of the field.....who knows? Brandi is ready to start her last semeste at TSU. She has been travelling with the Braille teacher this week and LOVES it! She has learned a lot and been able to give feedback to the teacher. She has quite an area to cover. Several semesters ago, she had to write a fictional diary of a Mennonite girl who is blind. The girl was real and Brandi had to do research on how the handicap is handled in that community. Weds. she actually got to meet the gal she researched and wrote about. Our daughter has received a prestigious job promotion. She has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. She is very capable and organized and I know she will do a great job. Our dil is starting nursing school in January. She has worked long and hard since she dropped out of public school at 14 because she feared for her life at that KC school. Our trip for AZ and CA looms. We are packing the van and excited about heading south! Tonight we had dinner for six ( had 14 here) It was great. We're doing the minor prophets. |
